So what is an electronic conference?

Well first of all the bad news, you do not go on an exotic trip abroad!

Now for the good! You do not need any money.

Put simply, We are holding a virtual conference. Papers and posters will be displayed on the World Wide Web. The main site will be at one of the largest internet providers in the UK (U-net) which has a very fast link to the internet. In addition, there will be a mirror site for fast access in the USA. A simple mechanism for discussing the conference contributions using electronic mail techniques will provided.

We hope that this will provide a novel means for Photochemists and Photobiologists to discuss the most exciting and topical developments in their field.

Why such a long conference?

A longer period than normal is required (and is typical of electronic conferences) as we all have our normal jobs to do, instead of being able to concentrate on the meeting itself.

However, there will be an initial 2 week period where we expect all participants to check the electronic mail board for their paper/poster and respond to any comments. This will be the equivalent of the afternoon poster session in a real meeting. After that, the next 2 weeks is the equivalent of the rest of the week in a real meeting, i.e the posters are left up, but the authors are in the bar!
